Acupuncture has been practiced for many thousands of years.  The World Health Organisation recognises acupuncture as an effective form of health care.

How does acupuncture work?

When we are ill or in pain, or if the body is not functioning as it should, Chinese medicine considers the body’s systems to be out of balance.  Good health requires good circulation.  Acupuncture relieves pain and illness, and restores normal function, by bringing the body back into balance and restoring circulation of blood, energy, and body fluids.  An acupuncturist chooses specific points on the body to restore this circulation.  Often herbal medicine is prescribed to support your acupuncture, or as a primary method of treatment.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes, acupuncture is safe when administered by a qualified, registered practitioner.  In Australia, the practice of acupuncture and Chinese medicine is regulated by a federal government agency, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency via the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia.  To be sure you are seeing a registered acupuncturist or Chinese medicine practitioner, visit

Trevor and Nicole are both registered practitioners.  We safely administer thousands of acupuncture treatments every year.
